Its been just over a week since the Town of Esterhazy started a petition for a new hospital / care home complex. To Friday afternoon nearly 1,000 people had already signed the electronic version on change.org. The petition is on track to garner more than 1,000 signatures by Monday.
In their post the town says the current hospital was built in 1964 and isn’t keeping up with the needs of the community. The care home also needs work. The petition seeks to encourage the provincial government to construct a new multi-use facility that would address both needs.
The area isn’t just using signatures however, they’ve been busy fundraising as well. In the past 10 years over 10 million dollars has been raised to help see the new project built. That’s about 20% of the estimated 50 million dollar price tag.
